Visa & Vaccinations

Prepare for Your Journey

Understand the key visa, passport, vaccination and health requirements to consider before travelling, so you can prepare properly for a smooth African safari.

Travel documents

The client must ensure that they meet the necessary travel documentation, permit and/or visa regulations of the countries they intend entering, transiting or visiting. Africa Always can provide guidelines in this regard; however, the client remains responsible for ensuring that they meet any regulations.
  • The client’s passport must have sufficient blank visa pages available in accordance with the regulations of various African countries. A minimum of 6 adjacent blank pages per country to be entered, transited or visited is recommended.
  • The client’s passport must be valid for the prescribed period contained in the applicable regulations of the countries being entered, transited and/or visited. A minimum expiry date of 12 months after the travel date is recommended.
  • If travelling alone with minor children, the client will need to provide a letter of consent from the absent parent(s) that the children are allowed to travel with them. If travelling to South Africa, parents are to carry each child’s birth certificate and their marriage certificate.

Inoculation, immunisation and medication

  • The client must ensure that they meet the immunisation, inoculation and medication regulations of the countries they are to visit. Africa Always provides guidelines when requested; however, the client remains ultimately responsible for meeting the requirements of each country visited.
  • Africa Always recommends visiting an appropriate medical practitioner prior to travel.
  • It is the client’s obligation to ensure that they are medically fit to travel.
